Jenny Lewis Concert Favors

jennylewis
The Jenny Lewis concert was amazing. Such great harmonies! And her overalls were cute too. <3
The hour and a half she sang seemed so short. Jenny, come back!

I came home with this lovely concert party favor:

thanks for making the commute a little nicer. the contortions required to hang on for dear life in a muni sardine can are often tiring, as is unintentionally snuggling with burly 9-5ers and their laptop bags, bluetooth conversations being shouted into my ear, but y'all are always lovely. i look when you're not looking. i'm not really staring at the floor. i'd say hi but i'm mostly focused on not drowning in the sea of stoic commuters. you can say hi too.

there was some lipstick on my backpack when i got off a crowded train; i hope it made a comfortable pillow, or collision airbag, or napkin.

Camera Baby

While at UO last week, I came across this:

I'm a fan of toy cameras and lo-fi photography, so I was immediately intrigued. I was hesitant to make the purchase before I did any research on this tiny camera.

"Japanese cult design house Superheadz has engineered the Ikimono Series 110 Camera. The Ikimono camera may be petite (40mm x 30mm [ about 1.5 ''] at 26.6g without cartridge) but it is a fully functional shooter. Flip the sides and back of the camera (think Transformer) to secure a 110 film cartridge behind it and you're set to shoot."

I also looked up the camera on Flickr and found these results.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! It's like having a very tiny baby Holga.

I think I'll pick one up this weekend.

Curlicue

The dress is pretty fierce...this girl loves her curlicue. Look at that hair!

Dual toned tights...is it just me, or do they almost make it seem like she's missing a leg? The white leg just blends in with the ground.

Rachel Getting Married

Is this starting to become a film blog?

I watched Rachel Getting Married this past weekend and it's a definite must-see. I don't even really like Anne Hathaway as an actress but I sort of fell in love with her in this film. Anne Hathaway plans Kym, a young drug addict who is given a weekend pass out of rehab to attend her older sister, Rachel's wedding. It is during the wedding weekend when secrets unravel and drama ensues. A person sitting behind me in the theater whispered during the movie, "Oh my god. This is SO intense." I couldn't have agreed more. Rachel Getting Married is probably one of the better films I have seen this year and no wonder, there is already Oscar buzz surrounding it.

P.S. The lead singer of TV On The Radio (TVOTR), Tunde Adebimpe plays Rachel's husband-to- be.

Watching movies = escapism

Weekend Rewind

This past weekend: BART rides, 1 hour long dance parties in San Jose, vintage clothing, random run-ins, running out of gas, trekking through The Hills Have Eyes, a futile attempt at a Blow Up drive-by, longings for bacon-covered hot dogs, Safeway at 3 am, the discovery that you can make your own peanut butter at said Safeway, crepes & frites, my 1st IMAX experience, empty bars, 330 Rich, Patron shots and the tipsy dancing that followed, after parties that went nowhere, 3 am Super burritos, Potrero Hill, an elusive 6 am after party which we didn't make, and getting home at 6:15 in the morning.

I watched the movie, Blindness on Thursday night and I have one recommendation: DO NOT GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Save your $10 for 10 double cheeseburgers or 2 beers in the clurb or anything else your heart desires, just don't see this movie. I was expecting some type of suspense-filled thriller type movie a la M. Night Shyamalan but I was wrong. Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo couldn't even save this movie from it's awful plot and message. The gist: There is an outbreak of blindness and those afflicted have been quarantined by the government. Eventually the whole world goes blind except for Julianne Moore's character. What follows is a look at human nature when all sight (including moral) is taken away.
If you want to watch a real thriller I would recommend Eagle Eye starring Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan instead. (Julianne Moore is also in this film as the voice of ARIA, though she is uncredited.)

If anything, watch Eagle Eye for Shia LaBeouf. Some eye candy:

Look how adorable he is even in his mug shot. Haha. Seriously, though :/

Synecdoche, New York

syn·ec·do·che n. A figure of speech in which a part is used for the whole (as hand for sailor), the whole for a part (as the law for police officer), the specific for the general (as cutthroat for assassin), the general for the specific (as thief for pickpocket), or the material for the thing made from it (as steel for sword). More here.

I find this trailer intriguing.

I don't know about you, but Philip Seymour Hoffman sometimes gives me the creeps.

Sorry about the lack of updates. I'll try harder.
