Memorial Day 2008, Part I : Polaroids

I decided to bust out my Polaroid camera at Dolores Park this Memorial Day. There was still sand and dust on it from the last time I used it at the Forums in Rome!!! I had to use the timer for the group photos...so if I look a bit disheveled in those it's because I had to set up the camera and then run to get into the photo.

A full post (+ photos!) coming soon but for now, enjoy these :)

If I was young, I'd flee this town I'd bury my dreams underground As did I, we drink to die, we drink tonight

After work, P and I will be seeing Beirut in concert. So excited!

I'll report back later with a concert recap!

WIDWD (What I Did With Dion)

Last Wednesday, Dion and I had a date in the Mission. I put my name and cell phone number down on the wait list for Weird Fish and the owner promised me he would give me a call when a table was available! So nice of him! While we waited, we wandered around a bit and took photos.

WDDW? (What Did Dion Wear?)

WDCW? (What Did Cynthia Wear?)

My new oxford flats!

I thought this would make a good background.

So Dion & I stood in front of it.

I got a call from the restaurant so we took a shortcut from Valencia St. to Mission St. through this alley.

This alleyway had amazing murals like this one of an elephant.

I liked the colors in this one.

I love pigeons!

Weird Fish is a really small restaurant. It probably seats no more than 3o at a time. It doesn't have a sign out front except for this horse creature hanging above the door.

After much contemplation, I ordered the Tilapia fish & chips. It came with slaw. The chips were a mix of regular potatoes and sweet potatoes! I also ordered a ginger lemonade which I had high hopes for. It was a bit tart for my taste.

I would highly recommend Weird Fish to anyone looking for a bite to eat in the Mission but only if you like seafood and you don't mind a wait. There are non-fried options as well (Dion got the grilled blackened catfish with mango salsa) and the menu is vegetarian friendly. Fake chicken and tofu, anyone? Next time I think I'll try the fried pickles!

P.S. I think our waiter was hitting on us. That's okay though!

And that is WIDWD.

Treasure Island Music Festival 2008, Sept. 20th & 21st

Justice, Hot Chip, CSS, Vampire Weekend, Spiritualized, and more TBA???!!!

Yes, please!!!

I went last year and it was pretty amazing. The weather was nice (hello Indian summer), there was a ferris wheel, a free photo booth, fashionable boys and girls, AND M.I.A. performed. What more could a girl ask for?

Scenes from last year:
The crowd below as seen from the ferris wheel.

O-M-G!!! It's M.I.A.!!!

This green goblin asked me to dance. I obliged.

Flashback!!! Sunglasses were so 2007. Haha. Kidding!

So, who's going with me???

Rogan for Target GO International

As a young, twenty-something year old with limited funds and a somewhat unsavory appetite for designer goods, I appreciate it when fashion designers collaborate with stores like Target, H&M, The Gap, or Top Shop to create a collection that won't wipe out my bank account. Because of this trendy phenomenon, I can proudly say I am an owner of a threeASFOUR dress (Gap), a Band of Outsiders shirt-dress (GAP), a Viktor & Rolf beaded shirt (H&M), an Erin Fetherston embellished sweatshirt (Target), and a Roberto Cavalli boho dress (H&M).

So I was excited to hear that Rogan was designing a collection for Target's GO International line. Rogan Gregory is a NYC-based eco-friendly, socially-conscious fashion designer who besides Rogan, helped create/design for the Loomstate and EDUN clothing lines. In 2007, he won the CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund award. His line for Target is a culmination of two-year long project and each piece is certified 100% organic.

The line launched this past weekend after much hype. I think Barney's is even selling the collection in it's own stores! Personally the line is not much my style (think muted neutral color palette, animal prints, safari inspiration) but I applaud Target for making such a green effort! Clap clap.

A couple pieces in the line did catch my eye though. Here's one:

I like the cute zebra screen print hidden inside!

See the rest of the collection here.

New tattoo idea: zebra???!!!

Insomnia

It's 6:23 AM right now and I haven't slept for almost 22 hours.

Why didn't I just go to bed when I got home???

Think I'll try to get some sleep right now. <3

June GQ Cover: Shia LaBeouf

Shia LaBeouf is on the June cover of GQ to promote his new Indiana Jones film.

He looks quite dapper don't you think? (Minus the fact that he looks a bit coked out.)

The reason for this post? Just because! <3

Top Chef

I rarely have time to watch television anymore but when I do it's usually The Hills which is now on hiatus until August, Project Runway which is also on hiatus, or Top Chef.

I caught up on Top Chef yesterday night.

My two faves from the beginning are still in it to win it. They are Andrew and Spike:

I can't wait to see what happens tonight!

P.S. Can somebody remind me to catch up on Gossip Girl???

Back in the States

Once again, I apologize for the lack of updates. I feel like I've been neglecting this blog but I do have an excuse for not blogging for the past two weeks.

HELLO, I JUST GOT BACK FROM EUROPE!!!

More specifically I was in London, Paris, and Rome.

Eleven days of vacation and I've come back to San Francisco a bit tanner, more cultured, and my bank account a bit more empty. DAMN YOU Top Shop and the weak American dollar!

I do plan on uploading all 1,500 (!) photos (plus all of my sister's photos, the Diana Camera pics and Polaroids) I took during my trip onto my Flickr and blogging about my travels.

As for now, I will savor my last day of freedom before I head back into work tomorrow.

Hope to see the HAC family soon <3

P.S. I had imagined my train ride from France to Italy to be quirky and somewhat romantic, something along the lines of a Wes Anderson movie. Unfortunately, it was not. Oh well, there is always next time.
