Spotted...HAC at the April 77 Fall Collection Preview at Acrimony

As some of my faithful readers may know, I am a contributor to Heart Attack City (HAC).

Today, Refinery29 writer Sydney Pfaff gave HAC a shout-out(!) in her review of the April77 and Acrimony event which HAC attended last Friday.

Walk This Way

I read in the newspaper last week (okay okay, on SFGate.com) that San Francisco has been declared the most “walkable” city in the nation, according to rankings by WalkScore.com. WalkScore.com is a “service designed to help those seeking a less automobile-dependent life.”

The company evaluated the 40 largest cities in the U.S. based on residents’ proximity to grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, movie theatres, and other amenities. San Francisco scored an 86/100, beating out New York and Boston. Seventeen of S.F.’s neighborhoods ranked 90 points or above including Chinatown, the Mission, Nob Hill, and The Haight.

“The ability to conveniently travel by foot to services and jobs matters for a number of reasons. Studies show it means people get more exercise, drive fewer miles and consequently spend less on gas and produce fewer greenhouse emissions. Walkability also means there are people on the sidewalks, in stores and at restaurants, making neighborhoods livelier and, for many, more attractive."

The Most and Least Walkable parts of S.F.

Top 5

Chinatown: 99

Financial District: 99

Downtown: 98

North Beach: 98

Mission District: 96

Bottom 5

Lakeshore: 66

Visitacion Valley: 70

Twin Peaks: 70

Crocker-Amazon: 70

Outer Sunset: 72 <= My hood. So true! How sad :(

If it is fried… I will eat it.

I am a foodie, but not a snobbish or picky one. I watch Top Chef with a passion, The Food Network is one of my go-to channels while lounging in front of the tube, I read the Food section of The Chronicle every Wednesday, I am on the lookout for new restaurants to try, and I debate the actualities of Rachel Ray’s $40 a Day. Can she really spend $40 a day dining out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (sometimes with enough money for a snack) in cities such as New York or San Francisco??? I think not. Rachel Ray, you are a liar!

Most nights of the week, I do eat out. By the end of the week, my Comme des Garçons wallet does feel a little bit emptier. Fortunately, thanks in part to my job; I’m able to dine at some of the more swanky restaurants in San Francisco such as Boulevard or Two (formerly Hawthorne Lane) without spending a penny. Thanks job! No matter how much I enjoy a nice steak with pan-fried string beans and truffle mashed potatoes, I will not hesitate to scarf down some KFC fried chicken, a couple of crispy tacos, or some French fries.

Much to my delight, I stumbled upon this while reading the San Francisco Eater blog.

This is The Waterbar’s version of fish and chips! A whole fried fish on top of a bed of French fries. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! This rock cod fish is only served during lunchtime and at $28, it will set you back a few dollars. Some might be squeamish seeing the whole intact fish on their plate but I’m not, I’m Chinese. Thanks.

Somebody, please take me!

You are soooo Wack.

The Wackness comes out in San Francisco on July 11th! I can't wait!
Theatrical Trailer - The Wackness

I don't know what it is about the trailer that makes me feel so nostalgic. Maybe its the mid 90's hip hop and rap soundtrack (i.e. Notorious B.I.G., Nas, R. Kelly, Wu Tang Clan), the 90's fashion sense I was once fond of, or maybe it's because the characters in the movie are coming of age the same time I was/wished I was in my life circa. If the trailer doesn't interest you, then at least go see the movie for Mary Kate Olsen. Duh!

Just face it.

In a sea of Crocs, mom jeans, and logo Ts, every once in a while I encounter an outfit worth taking a picture of. Sadly, I have no fancy SLR camera to take the photo with and if I did, the photo would probably turn out blurry and/or crooked. Luckily for me, there has been a proliferation of street fashion blogs and I get to admire fashionable looks from the comforts of my own home in my pajamas.

Usually when I am on the internets, I make it a habit of checking out Face Hunter or The Sartorialist for some fashion inspiration. The documentation of street wear on these two blogs is sort of amazing with Face Hunter updating more frequently with pix of fashion-forward young Europeans and The Sartorialist showcasing more sartorial looks from around the world.

Some Face Hunter inspiration:

Sometimes though, I don’t understand Face Hunter. For example:

Seriously??? First of all, are you really wearing a Balenciaga armor-inspired floral top? AND girl, you’re carrying around a HAMBURGER purse? Oh my god, you are SOOO avant garde! You belong in FRUiTS! I love you! Not. Barf. This type of edginess is not cute. Please stop. Thanks.

Face Hunter, please don’t disappoint me again! Step up yo’ game!
